Charges Filed in Line Bar Murder

Charges have been filed in Kankakee County Court against the man accused in last week’s murder of a 30-year-old bar owner from Momence. Court records show charges were filed Tuesday by the Kankakee County State’s Attorney’s office against 47-year-old Julius E. Burkes in last Monday’s murder of Courtney Drysdale, who was shot twice as she worked to open the Line Bar on Route 114 east of Momence. Charges filed against Burkes include three counts of murder, an armed robbery charge and a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Yesterday’s court filing shows local authorities plan to ask for life in prison if Burkes is found guilty of the crimes.
