Monee man Charged After High Speed Chase

Lake County Indiana Sheriff’s Police report the arrest of a 24-year-old Monee man after he allegedly led them on a high speed chase earlier this week. In a Facebook post, Lake County Deputies say it was just after 2:30 Monday morning when deputies started to chase a reckless driver westbound on I-80/94. Reports say the car was swerving in and out of lanes at speeds in excess of 130 miles-an-hour. Indiana State Police joined the chase and got the car to stop, at which time the driver, identified as Anthony Coffey of Monee, reportedly took off on foot. Coffey was caught after a short foot chase, though an Indiana State Trooper was injured when he was hit by a Lake County Sheriff’s Department squad car. The trooper was taken to the hospital and later released.
