Kankakee City Police report an arrest after a pair of shots fired incidents early Saturday morning. According to reports, police were called out to a business in the 1000 Block of East Birch Street just after 3:15 Saturday morning for a report of shots fired. When officers got there, they found three spent 9mm shell casings on the ground just west of the building where vehicles had been parked. Verkada camera footage showed a black chevy SUV parked in front of the area where the shell casings were found. About an hour later, officers were called to the 200 Block of North Hobbie Avenue in reference to shots fired. Officers spoke with two women who claimed to have been passengers in the SUV that allegedly got into an argument with the driver, identified as 41-year-old Damian T. Freeman, while inside the SUV. The argument allegedly became heated and the women asked Freeman to stop the car and let them out on North Hobbie Avenue. The two women allege Freeman began to follow them in his SUV and fired shots from his handgun. They women ran to a nearby home in the 1200 Block of North Locust Street to try and get help. Freeman was located a short time later by Kankakee County Sherriff deputies at North Saint Joseph Avenue and East Locust Street. Freeman has been charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm and unlawful use of a firearm by a felon.
