LOCAL PLANET FITNESS LOCATIONS OPEN ITS DOORS IN ILLINOIS FOR THOSE IMPACTED BY TORNADOES!

WHO: Planet Fitness locations in Kankakee, IL are opening their doors to anyone impacted by the recent Tornadoes to use club facilities free of charge (no membership needed).

WHAT: Following the devastation caused by the Storm, Planet Fitness locations will provide members and nonmembers with free access to showers, electrical outlets, WiFi, workouts, massage chairs and HydroMassage® loungers. Hours vary by location.

WHEN: Effective immediately, valid through 3/31/26.

WHERE: Planet Fitness 1280 N. Kennedy Dr. Kankakee, IL 60901

WHY: Planet Fitness is committed to helping the communities it serves, including offering services to those displaced because of Tornadoes.

Relief workers are set up at Grace Baptist Church to assist anyone in our community who may be in need. They are currently available 24/7 and have ComEd representatives on-site to answer questions. Water and supplies are available, along with electricity stations to charge cell phones and other mobile devices. All who need assistance are welcome at Grace Baptist Church,.2499 Waldron Road in Kankakee.

In response to the devastation caused by the recent storms in our area, the “We Stand for Christ Jesus Ministries” is currently offering free disaster relief supplies provided by Kankakee Walmart Store Manager, Chris Delgado. These consist of water, non-perishable food and snacks, hygiene products, garbage bags, bleach, toilet tissue, paper towels, tarps, storage containers and more. These items will be distributed (while supplies last) to community members in need beginning at 11am this Thursday (3/12), Friday (3/13) and Saturday (3/14) at the “We Stand for Christ Jesus Ministries” Transitional Life House, located at 1230 South East Avenue in Kankakee. (This is the former Homestead Restaurant building).

SPI Storage in St Anne is offering- Free storage pod rental (for 1 month) and delivery, 2 months free storage at their facility. 

The Watseka Family Festival organization is looking to help its neighbors in need by collecting items for those affected by the tornado in Kankakee County. They are seeking donations of the following items: work gloves, work boots, storage totes, trash cans and garbage bags, bathroom items, shovels, rakes and brooms, Walmart gift cards (no cash), baby items, first aid kits, pet supplies, backpacks, school supplies, bottled water, generators, drop cords, fuel cans, buckets, towels and washcloths, new bedding, sweatshirts and pants, T-shirts and other new or gently used clothing. Their drop-off locations include: Milford Building & Loan, Watseka Ford, Williamson Agency, Nichols Paint & Fab, State Farm Kristin Vogel in Gilman, the Iroquois County Courthouse, at the Watseka Farmers Market this Saturday morning (3/14), and the Watseka Walmart parking lot this Thursday (3/12) from 10am to 4pm, this Friday (3/13) from 5 to 8pm, and this Saturday (3/14) from 7am to 2pm. Providing supplies for those in need and collecting donations for local distribution include:

 

-Grace Baptist Academy-

Currently Available: Food, water, buckets, garbage bags

Donations Needed: Plywood, cap nails, tarps, totes, laundry detergent, boxes, paper towels and toilet paper

 

 

-Pregnancy Resource Center-

Currently Available: Diaper size newborn- 3 and Wipes

Donations Needed: Diaper size 4-6, Baby wipes, and Pull ups

 

 

-Georgie’s Closet-

Currently Available: clothes, hygiene items

Donations Needed: Diapers and wipes all sizes, Men & women underwear, Socks, New towels, blankets, Sheet sets, Pack n plays, Car seats, Baby food, toddler meals, Baby formula, New twin mattresses

 

 

-Huckleberry’s Snack Shack-

Donations Needed: Bottled water, gatorade, fresh fruit, canned fruit, individually bagged chips, granola/protein bars, loaves of bread, peanut butter, jelly, sandwich bags

Drop off locations: March Family Dental in Peotone, South Creek Animal Hospital in Manteno, and Razzle Dazzle in Bradley

 

 

-Kankakee County State’s Attorney’s Community Division-

Donations Needed- Non-Perishable Food, bottled water, hygiene items, flashlights & batteries, first aid kits, baby & child supplies,  pet food, cleaning supplies
