Delbert Skimerhorn of the Kankakee County Planning Department wants to remind people that live in the unincorporated parts of the county that have homes with storm damage need to pull permits from his office before repairs can be made.
Skimerhorn added houses located in the floodplain do require additional regulations and inspections. Repairs or replacements that require permits include things like new roofs, windows, siding, doors, and fences.
