Kankakee County Floodplain Buyout Program

The Kankakee County Planning Department has announced a floodplain buyout program. According to a press release on the Kankakee County Board’s Facebook page, the program, supported by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, offers eligible homeowners affected by the March 10th tornado the option to pursue a property buyout if rebuilding in a high-risk floodplain is not the best way forward.
