Additional charges filed against woman accused of driving drunk during fatal crash

Additional charges have been filed against the woman who was allegedly driving drunk when the pick-up truck she was driving crashed into a frozen creek resulting in the death of a 10-year-old Pembroke Township girl. 58-year-old Phyllis A Moses was originally charged with DUI after her pickup crashed late in the evening near 37-hundred East Route 17 on February 16th. There were two children in the truck with her at the time of the crash. One of the kids, 10-year-old Ombre Mangram died the next day at a hospital in Chicago. Originally, Moses was cited by law enforcement for driving under the influence. Kankakee County State’s Attorney Jim Rowe’s office has upgraded those charges to Aggravated DUI causing death and Aggravated DUI causing great bodily harm as well as underlying DUI charges. Thursday the State’s Attorney’s Office filed a petition to keep Moses in jail, that petition has yet to be decided by the court. A June 3rd date has been set to set a trial date to start a jury trial.
