Lawyer for accused cop killer hints at venue change

Xandria Harris, accused in the 2021 murder of Bradley Police Sergeant Marlene Rittmanic and wounding of Officer Tyler Bailey appeared in Kankakee County Court today for a status hearing on her upcoming trial. Defense Attorney Cierra Norris says she intends to file a motion for a change of venue. The case has already had two failed attempts at a jury trial. A hearing date has been set for May 8th to discuss whether the motion for a venue change will be granted or not by Judge Kathy Bradshaw-Elliot. Until then, the Harris trial is still set to begin August 3rd in Kankakee County Court.
