Kankakee City Police make gun/drug arrest

Kankakee City Police made a drug and gun arrest on the city’s east side Easter night. According to reports, officers conducted a traffic stop on a yellow Dodge Charger near East Cedar Street and North Industrial Avenue just before eight Sunday night. When police approached the driver’s side of the Charger, an open container of alcohol was seen in the center counsel and officers could smell the odor of raw cannabis. A search of the driver and car turned up approximately 11 grams of raw cannabis, around 24 grams of suspected MDMA capsules, a digital scale, and a 9mm handgun with 11 live rounds in it. The driver of the car, 42-year-old James D. Talley was arrested and charged Unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, aggravated unlawful use of a loaded weapon, among other charges.
