Rensselaer Police Report Battery Arrest Sunday

A Rensselaer Indiana man was arrested Sunday for the alleged battery of a police officer. According to a press release, officers were called to an apartment complex on Bmar Drive just before nine Sunday night for a man, later identified as 27-year-old Thomas Pickard, acting disorderly and making threats to shoot someone in the parking lot. Police located Pickard near Rensselaer Central Middle School and placed him under arrest. Pickard allegedly became aggressive and caused damage to a window of a squad car. He was then transported to the hospital for medical treatment where he allegedly bit an officer’s finger. Pickard has been charged with battery against a public safety official, two counts of intimidation, among other charges.
