Apr 22, 2026 | 11:04 AM
At Monday night’s Manteno Village Board Meeting, the Manteno Historical Society announced a program to apply historical markers to buildings. The program allows eligible buildings or homes to apply for a Manteno Historical Society plaque to mount on the front of the building. If approved, you will receive contact information for the company that creates the plaques. The cost for a plaque is $85. Vice President of the Manteno Historical Society, Anna Kaminski, says that the goal of the project is to have awareness of older, historic homes in the area. Applications for the plaques will be at the Manteno Village Hall, located at 98 East 3rd Street, and the Manteno Historical Society. For properties to be eligible, they must be located within the Village of Manteno, Manteno Township, or Rockville Township and must be at least 100 years old. For more information, visit the Manteno Historical Society at 192 West 3rd Street.
