The City of Kankakee has opted in to participate in an opioid class action lawsuit. The measure was approved at Monday night’s city council meeting. Mayor Chris Curtis says the city has received a few hundred thousand dollars to date from similar lawsuits.
Mayor Curtis says they have seen a reduction in opioid use in the area and hopes its because of the funds the city gets for education about the drugs.
