One man is in custody following a shooting in Kankakee Tuesday afternoon that left a person dead. In a press release, Kankakee City Police say officers were sent to a home in the 500 block of South Fifth Avenue just before two yesterday afternoon for a reported robbery and a gunshot victim. When they got there, officers say they found a suspect and two other people suffering from gunshot wounds. The suspect was taken into custody while the victims were taken to the hospital. City Police say one of the two, a 38-year-old man later died of his wounds. 27-year-old Malik A Jones was arrested by City Police on homicide and aggravated battery with a firearm charges. The name of the victim hasn’t been released pending notification of next of kin. Police continue to investigate the shooting.
