This week we proud to shine a spotlight on the communities that make our area special with our weekly Hometown Spotlight series. This week we salute Watseka:

Watseka is the county seat of Iroquois County and sits about 15 miles from the Indiana border.
The town was named after a real Native American woman named Watseka, whose Potawatomi name meant “Daughter of the Evening Star.”
Famous for being home to the “[Watseka Wonder],” one of America’s earliest documented cases of spiritual possession
The architect of the Lincoln Memorial, Henry Bacon, was born in Watseka.
