Students and Staff at Hope Christian Academy in Kankakee, formerly Kankakee Trinity Academy, are safe after an electrical issue in the building caused them all to evacuate Thursday morning. In an email sent to parents from Superintendent Jeff Wood said ComEd blew a fuse on a power pole near the school, causing the building to temporarily lose power and experience power surges. This caused a part in the school’s boiler room to overheat, creating haze and oder in the gymnasium. Everyone was evacuated safely from the building around 8:15 Thursday morning. The Kankakee Fire Department was called to inspect the building while ComEd completed repairs and restored power. No serious damage was caused and school is back in session today.
