At Monday night’s Kankakee City Council meeting, aldermen passed a resolution to sign an agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation on the construction of the new I-57 interchange at Route 17. City Engineer Neil Piggush says even though the project is mostly funded by state and federal dollars, the city will have some costs as well.
Piggush added the new interchange is projected to cost close to 100-million dollars. The city’s portion of that will be about two-million dollars. It will take about three years or so to build the new interchange.
