City Police make gun, drug arrests

Kankakee City Police report a pair of arrest. According to reports, officers tried to stop a car last night in the area of Birch and Evergreen. Instead of stopping, the car reportedly continued northbound and the rear seat passenger, later identified as Isaiah Drew, allegedly through something out the window. That “something” allegedly turned out to be a loaded handgun. The car finally stopped in the 700 block of North Park, where everyone inside got out and ran. City Police say they caught up with Drew and the driver, Ma’ Liala Leavell. Drew was arrested for armed violence and several gun-related charges. Leavell was taken into custody on drug-related charges after cocaine and ecstasy were allegedly found inside the car.
