Area residents clean up from storms, again

Time will be spent once again today assessing damage from yesterday’s storms. Trees and power lines were downed as storms moved through the area late yesterday afternoon and early evening. Tornado warnings were issued about 4:30 yesterday afternoon when the National Weather Service saw a storm capable of producing a tornado in the area around Herscher and Chebanse. Tree limbs reportedly blocked roads in Braidwood, while the Village of Beecher reported high winds that caused property damage and left many in the area without power. Power lines were also reported down in Wilmington. The Jasper County Fair had to close for a time Monday as the storms passed through. As of this morning, ComEd says anyone without power in the area should have it back by now.
