Shots Fired in Kankakee Friday Night

No one was injured when shots were fired on Kankakee’s east side Friday night, damaging a building and a nearby car. According to Kankakee City Police reports, officers were called to a business in the 1600 Block of East Maple Street just before nine Friday night regarding a shots fired incident. When officers arrived, they found nine spent shell casings on the west side of the business. Officers also saw bullet projectile damage on the Westside door and brick wall of the building. A few bullets even passed through the inside of the business. A white SUV parked nearby was grazed by a round of gunfire on the front hood. Video surveillance footage shows a woman wearing a black hooded sweatshirt drawing a firearm in the dirt area outside the store. Police were able to identify the woman but no arrests have yet been made. A witness at the scene told officers the shots fired incident resulted from retaliation related to a past incident involving her little brother.
