The Kankakee City Council voted last night to commit local funds toward the West River Street Project. City Engineer Neil Piggush
Piggush said the estimated total cost of the project is nine-million dollars, with the grant hopefully covering five-million of that cost. The project would rehab West Avenue from Court Street to River Street. Piggush added they should know if they’re getting the grant by early next summer and the hope would be to begin work sometime in 2028.
