Local law enforcement is investigating after another smash and grab burglary overnight.
This one happened in the 11-hundred block of North Convent in Bourbonnais where Bourbonnais Police Chief Dave Morefield says an officer on patrol just before four this morning spotted a black SUV parked by the business. As the officer pulled into the parking lot, Chief Morefield says multiple people were seen running from the business, jumping into the SUV and taking off northbound up 45/52 to Bourbonnais Parkway with officers in pursuit. Morefield says the chase was called off when speeds exceeded 100 miles an hour on I-57. The thieves made off with cash from gambling machines inside the business. It’s at least the second of these type of thefts in the Kankakee area.
