Kankakee City Police report a drug arrest. According to reports, officers were called to the 100 block of West Broadview Drive Monday for a report of suspected drug activity. When they got there, officers say they saw a man, later identified as 21-year-old Joshua L. Palenik get out of a gray pickup truck and walk back to a building owned by the Kankakee County Housing Authority. Officers say they stopped Palenik to ask him about the incident and say they noticed Palenik had something in his hand. When asked what was in his hand he reportedly put his hand in his pocket and told them “nothing”. A search of Palenik reportedly turned up a quantity of pills he identified as oxycontin. City Police took Palenik to the Jerome Combs Detention Center on preliminary charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
