During this morning’s meeting of the Kankakee County Board’s Finance Committee, County Finance Director Steve McCarty told the committee sales tax revenue is up in the county:
McCarty told the committee the sales tax number was the highest it had been in about seven years. McCarty noted that increase in sales tax and with the upcoming property tax distribution, the County has made it through the lean time of the year without having to issue tax anticipation bonds
Also during this morning’s meeting, the committee agreed to forward County Clerk Dan Hendrickson’s recommendation for new voting equipment and iPads for polling places to the full Board for approval. The funds for that purchase is to come from federal “Lost Revenue Funds”.
