City Police Arrest Man on Gun and Drug Charges

Kankakee City Police report a drug arrest. According to reports, it was just before 2:30 Wednesday afternoon when officers tried to stop a car at the intersection of Court and Rosewood for a traffic violation. Police say, instead of stopping, the car, driven by 23-year-old Harlynn C. Smith took off southbound on South Greenwood. Police say they saw Smith pull the car into the ally in the 400 block of South Chicago where he took off on foot. Smith was caught a short time later, and a handgun was allegedly found in the path Smith ran. A search of his car also allegedly turned up a baggie containing a brown substance. City police arrested Smith for various gun and drug related charges.
