Gun and Drugs Found in Traffic Stop

Illinois State police confiscated a gun and an unspecified amount of marijuana Friday night during a routine traffic stop on I-57 in Kankakee County for an equipment violation. The trooper detected the strong odor of burnt cannabis coming from the vehicle and initiated a search that turned up the pot and firearm.  33 year old Michael T. Morrison of Champaign was taken into custody on weapons and drug charges.
