Longtime City Police Officer Retires

After 33 years with the Kankakee City Police Department Officer Marci Gearhart called it a career today.  A gathering was held this afternoon at the department to thank her for her 3 decades of service and wish her well in retirement.  Friends tell us the avid animal lover was only the second woman ever hired on the Kankakee police force.  Gearhart also served for a time with KMEG.  We’re told Marci plans to spend her retirement in a house she’s purchased in Florida and expects to be in the sunshine state by mid- August.
