The Kankakee County States Attorney’s office says a Kankakee City police officer has been charged with indirect contempt of court for failing to appear to testify at a felony weapons trial on July 9 th. The Daily Journal reports Officer Marisha Costello was supposed to testify in the bench trial of Ruben Carmona, but was a no show and never called the office to explain why. Carmona was found not guilty with Judge Kathy Bradshaw Elliott saying the lack of Costello’s testimony left to many unanswered questions. A no bond warrant has now been issued for Costello who was apparently also a no show when her case was called this week. City police say the three year veteran of the force is currently on requested leave.
