There was some good news this morning during the Kankakee County Board’s Criminal Justice Committee meeting. That news came from County Sheriff Mike Downey who told the committee the State Department of Corrections has begun to take more inmates that have been sentenced to State prison time:
Downey told the committee the State has also asked for numbers from the County for costs associated with inmates they either didn’t take or were delayed in taking. He said it looks like the State may actually compensate the County for some or all of those costs.
