Heat Warnings (AUDIO)

Aug 11, 2021 | 4:23 PM
With expected high temperatures and high humidity over the next few days, it’s good to keep in mind that the heat can have an adverse affect on our health. Kayten Winterroth is the Emergency Preparedness Coordinator for Riverside Healthcare and she says hot/humid air decreases the body’s ability to cool itself down

Winterroth says there’s a progression to heat related illness, starting with heat stress and ending with heat stroke

Winterroth adds the big thing with heat is prevention so you should stay out of the heat if possible, drink plenty of water and get help if you think you, a friend or co-worker is starting to have trouble. She says you should also keep an eye on your pets. Never lock them in a car and keep them in as much as possible during extremely hot weather.
