Two Killed in Grundy County Crash

Grundy County Coroner John Callahan’s office reports a traffic crash Friday afternoon killed two people. According to reports, preliminary investigations show a car was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Route 47,  near the Grundy County Fairgrounds just after one Friday afternoon and hit a northbound vehicle head-on. The driver of that northbound car, identified as 57-year-old Timothy L. Schride of Happy Valley Oregon was pronounced dead at the scene, while a passenger in his car was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries. Reports say another northbound car in front of Shride was able to get out of the way of the southbound car driven by 75-year-old Sandra L. Viola of Arlington Heights, but Schride was unable to avoid the accident. Viola was thrown from her car and was also pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The crash is still being investigated by Callahan’s office, the Morris Police Department and the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department.
