Residents can get information about the planned consolidation of the Peotone and Manhattan Fire Protection Districts during meetings with top department brass this week. Officials say consolidation will reduce administrative costs, and allow for the hiring of additional firefighters and paramedics, along with equipment and facilities upgrades. The meeting for residents will be Wednesday at 8:30am in Peotone at the Fire District station at 7550 W. Joliet Road. Another will be held Friday in Manhattan, at 8:30am at the Fire District station at 100 Park Road. The meeting is expected to last a couple of hours for both sessions.
