A routine traffic stop for faulty registration light ended with a man under arrest on weapons charges Wednesday.  According to city police when the officer approached the vehicle at East Maple and South Elm, he spotted open alcohol inside and ordered the driver out.  A search of 31 year old Joshua A. Boyd turned up a loaded Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun.  A check found Boyd to be without a FOID card or Concealed carry permit and a felon.  He’s facing multiple charges today including a warning ticket for the faulty registration light.
