Kankakee City Police are asking for help in finding the person responsible for a hit-and-run accident Saturday night that killed a woman. City Police say Vernessa Calhoun was walking in the one-thousand block of North Kennedy about 10:20 Saturday night when she was hit by a passing car. When officers arrived they found Calhoun laying in the roadway and paramedics were unable to save her. The car that struck Calhoun fled the scene. It was believed to have been a gray 2012 to 2015 Buick Verano. Anyone with information about the accident or the driver of the car is urged to call Kankakee City Police or Crime Stoppers.
