The Illinois Senate has moved to repeal the act that would require parents to be notified if a minor is seeking an abortion.  The state Senate voted 32 to 22 yesterday to repeal the 1995 Parental Notification Act.  38th District State Senator Sue Rezin spoke out against rescinding the act

Members of the clergy spoke out about the decision, saying the laws are there to protect parents’ rights as well as the sanctity of life.  Governor J.B. Pritzker has indicated that he would likely sign the proposal if it passes the House.
