Kinzinger Down but Not Out

Nov 5, 2021 | 7:27 AM

Congressman Adam Kinzinger is leaving the U.S. House, but he admits he may not be done with politics just yet.  Kinzinger told CNN he’s looking at a statewide run and maybe a run for President.  He said a decision on possibly running in his home state would likely come by January.  Democratic Governor JB Pritzker is up for re-election next year and so is Democratic Senator Tammy Duckworth.  Kinzinger has already said he won’t run for re-election in a new district.  His current district has been wiped off the congressional district map by democrats in Springfield following the 2020 census that mandated redrawn district lines and the loss of one district because of a drop in population over the last decade in Illinois.  Challengers had already lined up to take him out in the primaries after he emerged as a tough critic of former President Trump.  He’s also on the House committee looking into the attack on the Capitol that took place during Trump’s final days in office.
