Increased violence in Kankakee County this year is costly. During this morning’s Kankakee County Board Finance Committee meeting, County Sheriff Mike Downey spoke about the cost of housing accused murderers
Downey says the cost to house an inmate charged with murder in more than other offenses because of the amount of time they spend in the county jail
Downey pointed out it costs about 102 dollars a day for the county to house an inmate…that works out to nearly 41-thousand dollars a year.
