Distracted Driving Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

Kankakee County sheriff’s police arrested a Rantoul man on drug charges Monday afternoon in the 500 block of Illinois Avenue in Kankakee.  Deputy’s pulled over the vehicle after spotting the driver using his cell phone.  They searched the vehicle after detecting the scent of burnt marijuana coming from the car.  Inside police say they found 100 grams of pot.  30 year old Darious Brown was arrested for possession with intent to deliver.  Police say plastic baggies and a scale was also found in the car. A passenger in the vehicle at the time was released.
