Rowe to Seek Federal Murder Charges in Rittmanic Killing

Kankakee County States Attorney Jim Rowe is seeking possible federal murder charges against 25 year old Darius D. Sullivan of Bourbonnais and 26 year old Xandreia Harris of Bradley, which could make both eligible for the death penalty.  Both are already facing state murder charges in connection with last week’s shooting death of Bradley police Sgt. Marlene Rittmanic and the wounding of Officer Tyler Bailey.  Sullivan was arrested in Manchester, Indiana on Friday Harris turned herself in a short time later.  Rowe says he will seek life in prison for both defendants in Illinois.

Meanwhile, funeral services have been arranged for Sgt. Rittmanc.  Visitation will be held from 2:00-7:00 PM, Thursday January 6th at Olivet Nazarene University in the Hawkins Centennial Chapel.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday at the Chapel. A law enforcement procession will immediately follow. The public is encouraged to line the procession route to show support. Private Interment to follow at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Cemetery.
