Kankakee Records Third Suspected Overdose Death in 48 Hours

The death toll continues to rise in a rash of suspected overdoses in Kankakee over the weekend. Between about 6:30 Thursday night and into Saturday evening Kankakee City Police say some nine people are believed to have suffered overdoses in the city with two confirmed overdose deaths and another suspected death from overdose. The suspected overdose death happened Saturday where a 51-year-old man’s body was found in his car parked in the 11-hundred block of East Merchant. Another person OD’d Saturday evening, but was revived by City Fire Department personnel. Kankakee City Police Chief Robin Passwater says his office continues to investigate the cases in an effort to find the source of the illegal drugs. At least seven of the nine victims were thought to have been at a gathering in the 600 block of West Station Street prior to their overdose.
