Rensselaer Man Arrested in Overdose Deaths

A 37-year-old Rensselaer man was arrested earlier this week on charges related to the death of his wife late last year. According to reports, officers had been investigating the overdose death of Joshua R. Shanley’s wife since last October when she was found dead in the home the two shared. Reports say another apparent overdose death happened in November inside Shanleys’ house. Rensselaer police say a search of phone records allegedly showed several text message exchanges between Shanley and a suspected drug dealer in Indianapolis around the time of both overdose deaths. Reports say Shanley also allegedly had his underaged son drive him to Indianapolis on several occasions to buy drugs. Shanley was arrested Tuesday for reckless homicide.
