Unemployment in Kankakee County Falls Again

For the 9^th consecutive month, the unemployment rate in Kankakee County fell last month.  The Illinois Department of Employment Security puts the December number as 4.9 percent, that’s down from 7.5 percent in December of 2020.  Rockford has the highest jobless rate in the state at 6.3 percent.  Champaign Urbana has the lowest at 3.2 percent.  In the last year 2400 jobs were created in the Kankakee area.
