It’s tax season once again, and the Salvation Army of Kankakee County is offering tax assistance through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance or VITA program. Salvation Army Lieutenant T. Scott Parnell says the office has appointments available Monday through Thursday now through tax day, April 18th
Lieutenant Parnell says there are a few things you need to take along with you to have your taxes done through the program
The free VITA program is for those with low to moderate income, generally less than 58-thousand dollars-a-year. Parnell says the local Salvation Army office does about a thousand returns a year so he asks you book your appointment soon.
