Kankakee traffic stop leads to gun arrest

A traffic stop Wednesday night netted Kankakee City Police a gun arrest. According to reports, it was just after nine Wednesday night. Officers stopped a car driven by 22-year-old Lamar V. Lillard Junior near the intersection of South Prospect Avenue and South Duane Boulevard for a traffic violation. City police say during the stop it was found that Lillard was in possession of a handgun with an “auto” selection switch. A search also allegedly turned up baggies of suspected cocaine and some cannabis. Lillard was arrested by city police for several drug and firearm violations.
