Feb 23, 2022 | 9:00 AM

A man who invited an acquaintance into his home to use his cell phone Friday was the victim of residential theft when the acquaintance apparently left the apartment in the 300 block of East River Street, with the phone, the keys to the apartment and the key-card to get into the apartment building. Police say Saturday morning 33 year old James Lane Jr. came back to the apartment and allegedly took off with a 42 inch flat screen tv and a tablet. The victim was notified of the theft only after he was awakened by the property manager who was checking on his welfare after a neighbor spotted a man leaving the apartment about 5:30 Saturday morning carrying a TV. Working off a photo, police identified and then arrested Lane a short time later. He’s been charged with residential burglary.
