Kankakee County Sheriff’s Police report an arrest following a high-speed chase early this morning. According to reports, it was just before three this morning that deputies spotted a car driven by 24-year-old DeBraun Lewis-Mayo of Bourbonnais, doing 70 in a 55-mile-an-hour-zone in rural Kankakee County. When they tried to pull Lewis-Mayo over, he reportedly led officers on a chase that reached over 100-miles-an-hour. At one point, deputies say Lewis-Mayo pulled over and yelled something at officers before turning his car around and taking off again, this time at speeds reaching 135-miles-an-hour. That’s when, reports say his car went into the ditch. Once stopped, Lewis-Mayo allegedly got out of the car and took off running through a cornfield, before he was finally taken in to custody by Sheriff’s police. Deputies arrested Lewis-Mayo for aggravated fleeing, attempting to elude police and reckless driving.
