Rensselaer man arrested for alleged intimidation

Rensselaer Indiana police report the arrest of a 34-year-old Rensselaer man after he allegedly sent threatening messages to a police officer. According to reports, the officer woke up Wednesday morning to a series of text messages on his phone, allegedly from Aaron Hovis. The messages all allegedly of a threatening nature and referred to cases the department had investigated. Officers say they tracked down Hovis who seemed to be intoxicated. A search of Hovis’ semi allegedly turned up marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Hovis was taken to the Jasper County Jail, charged with three counts of intimidation along with various drug violations.
