Truck Fire at Manteno’s Prairie Quarry

Manteno fire fighters were called to the Prairie Materials Stone Quarry off Rt. 45/52 about 9 this morning for a large dump truck fire.  Manteno Fire Chief Scott O’Brien tells us the truck was already fully involved when firefighters arrived.  The driver was not hurt, O’Brien says the truck was in the process of dumping a large load of stone when the flames erupted. The cause is still under investigation.  Multiple departments assisted with putting the fire out by shuttle water to the bottom of the quarry where the truck was operating at the time.
