Kankakee City Police report incidents of shots fired in the city over the weekend. Early Saturday morning, officers were called to the 500 block of North Cottage Avenue for a report of shots fired in the area. When the got there, police say officers found an unoccupied SUV and saw someone running from the area. The SUV was found to be leaking fluids and had to be towed, but police say they were unable to find the person seen fleeing the area. Patrolmen say they found spent shell casings in the area and a witness told them the shots had come from a red minivan driving through the area. Police are looking for the minivan.

Just after 11:30 last night, city police were called to the 18-hundred block of Greenview Avenue for another report of shots fired. Dispatchers also told officers a white car was seen speeding away from the scene. When they got there, officers say they found spent shell casings and spoke with a witness who told them they’d heard the shots and may have video of the shooting. No one was injured and there was no damage from that shooting.
