There’s a worsening drought just north of Kankakee County. The latest U.S. Drought Monitor shows the northern half of Will County is rated abnormally dry and conditions worsen the further north you go until you get to McHenry County on the Wisconsin/ Illinois state line where conditions are rated as an extreme drought. State Climatologist Trent Ford says crops in the region are taking a hit. Rain is in the forecast but Ford says it will take a lot to lessen the drought. There are also spots of abnormally dry conditions along southeast central Illinois and the metro east area.
