Braceville man drowns in Braidwood lake Saturday

A 56-year-old man from Braceville is thought to have drowned in Shadow Lake in Braidwood early Saturday afternoon. While few details are available, authorities confirm they were called to the lake about 1:30 Saturday afternoon where Richard R. Smith had been found floating in the water near his kayak. Smith was taken to the hospital where he died just before four Saturday afternoon. The Grundy County Coroner’s Office and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources continue to investigate the incident.
